Auslan Update

Prep - 2:

So far in Auslan, students have been practicing their signs for different colours. They are now starting to put their knowledge together, and sign “my favourite colour is..... Putting sentences together in a language with their hands. What a huge step!

Students have been practicing though games and watching videos of Deaf individuals, which has been a huge hit. At the end of the lesson, we have been practicing the National Anthem, which they get to practice every fortnight at P - 2 Assembly.

From Week 6, I will be choosing 2 superstars to stand out the front and guide the rest of the P-6 students signing our national anthem - Advanced Australia Fair.

Year 7:

They have hit the ground running! So far, students have learnt the alphabet and fingerspelling their name, flat handshape signs, point handshape signs, and fist handshape signs. Just around the corner is depicting signs.

At the moment, students are preparing for the unit 1 assessment where they will be showing off their newfound skills by putting it all together.

Later this term, students will start signing the National Anthem, and put this consolidation of knowledge through song.
