Support Available
Considering the recent storms affecting our area, I wanted to take a moment to extend our support and kindness to all families who have been impacted. We understand that many homes went without power, and some are still experiencing outages. Some families lost their whole fridge content which can put a large strain on household budgets. If any families need assistance, please know that we are here for you and we are more than happy to help in any way we can.
Leadership Badge Presentation
A huge round of applause to our Student School Leaders who proudly received their badges at a special Assembly on Monday. Thank you to the parents, friends, and Nick McGowan MP for joining us and showing your support. And let's not forget about the delicious morning tea we shared afterward—it was the perfect way to wrap up a great morning!
Now, mark your calendars because we've got more excitement in store. We'll be handing out badges for the Junior School Council and the Green Team at our next assembly. Our first School Sport Gala Day scheduled for next Friday might change things up a bit, but don't worry, we'll keep you in the loop about the assembly venue change which will be weather dependant.
Student Voice and Agency
I am pleased to share with you an update on our ongoing commitment to improving our school facilities. Over the holiday period, significant upgrades were undertaken in the main building, specifically focusing on the refurbishment of the toilets. These renovations included new flooring, paint, lighting, and, importantly, updated toilet cisterns and basins that are accessible to even our smallest students. The decision to prioritise these upgrades came directly from student input, demonstrating the power of student voice and agency within our school community.
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that the toilets in the Brian Allen Hall will also undergo refurbishment during the upcoming Easter Holiday Period. We are grateful to Jackie, our Business Manager, for her coordination of these works over the school holidays.
Cross Country
On Wednesday, our annual Cross-Country event kicked off with an electrifying start, and what a thrill it was! Amongst the spirited participants Moneghetti (Green House) emerged victorious. The atmosphere was nothing short of a carnival, filled with excitement and camaraderie.
A special mention goes to Bu Sia, who completed a 14km run! When asked about her passion for running, she expressed, "I just like to help children believe in themselves. When they feel like giving up, I am there to say, 'We can do it together.'" Bu Sia, we are so lucky to have you as part of our team.
Car Park Safety
Melissa, Lauren, and I are present every morning during the kiss and drop-off to assist with ensuring that our children are safely dropped off at school. Your cooperation and attention to safety during this time are greatly appreciated.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that our school's car park is not a designated walking area, especially during the busy drop-off and pick-up times. It's crucial to avoid walking through the car park during these times, as cars may be reversing or driving through the drop-off area. The presence of small children in this environment can pose a significant visibility challenge for drivers.
Ensuring the safety of all our students is our top priority, and we kindly ask for your cooperation in adhering to this safety guideline. By using designated walkways and avoiding the car park area during drop-off and pick-up times, we can help minimise the risk of accidents and keep our school community safe.
During these times only staff cars are allowed to be in the carpark. I encourage to find a park further from the school and walk during the road closures and changed traffic conditions.
Change in the Gate System
We're implementing a new procedure regarding the front pedestrian gates at our school to further enhance safety measures. The front gates will be locked throughout the school day and opened in the afternoon, like the back gate.
This change is aimed at encouraging all visitors to enter the school through the front entrance, allowing for closer monitoring of who enters the premises during school hours. By centralising access to the front gate, we aim to increase security and provide better oversight of individuals coming onto our grounds.
Enjoy the weekend with your friends and family.
Warm regards
