Grade 6 Camp reflections
Universal restaurant, is an amazing place where you can eat as much as you possibly can. Universal restaurant was an all you can eat pizza and pasta place, it was scrumptious and amazing. While we were there we had lots of pizza and pasta but we also got lots of jugs of lemonade and coke. We had to catch a bus from Urban Camp to the restaurant and then walk roughly five minutes but it was worth it. It was on the first night and it was amazing, after the restaurant we went to sky deck and after that everyone was exhausted because it had been a big day and it was late.😊 The movie night was magical. It was really nice to just relax but before that, we played human naughts and crosses which was fun. Once everyone settled down from the game we all got our pillows and blankets and chose a spot to lay down and relax. The movie we watched was Home Alone and even though nearly everyone had seen it most of us still agreed. We got to watch it on the second night. Mrs Price handed out lollies for everyone there were random ones and then also zippos which were delicious. 😋 Amity and Fintan.
The disco night Thursday night at camp was super fun dancing and singing to a variety of music it was interesting I love to dance so I was trying to dance to every song but it was difficult because I didn’t know all of them. All the girls where completely in the zone vibing to Tay Tay! I still can’t describe the feeling of everyone having a blast! 💥 people were so hyped and excited that we couldn’t even hear the song over their singing. Shooting those light-up fairy slingshots in the night air was fun! 🤩 seeing how high we could go, people were going crazy chasing them to see if they could catch them. I kept bowling people over because they couldn’t see me until the last minute -eve. At the end of the night, we sat in a circle and talked about how much we enjoyed the whole experience and the friends we made. By Eve Murray-Davis and Macalah Maxwell
Hosier Lane, is a lane stuffed to the brim with graffiti, art and wonder. Grade 6 went there on Thursday and it was a marvellous experience. All the walls were covered in bright drawings of art. Many people gathered to stare at these works of art. It was loads of fun, especially when we got to have pictures taken. I can’t wait to be back there someday. Written by George and Henry 6P
Scienceworks After a long drive we arrived at our first activity, Scienceworks. Once we arrived we sat down and ate our lunch on these enormous, exciting, and entertaining rainbow stairs. When we finished we split into groups and went into the sound and feel room where they had vibrating chairs and heaps of interactive activities. Afterwards, we went into the sports room. There were lots of sports equipment you could use like; trying to beat Cathy Freeman’s running time, snowboarding, and lots more. The next room consisted of a planet room including a spaceship, seeing how the world was decades ago. This experience was so amazing, we would absolutely love to go again! We definitely recommend it! Urban camp was a WILD EXPERIENCE full of lots of FUN! A great first story would be on day 1 when we went to science works! There were a lot of groups with the great teachers/parents leading them, and the places they went to were INSANE such as the fitness tests were you could check your grip strength or try to run faster Cathy Freeman if that isn’t to your liking then try the optical illusion zone were you could make your own patterns or sleep on a vibrating bed. If that isn’t your thing either try to make music based on certain emotions or play virtual goalie where the ref only says “give someone else a try” funniest thing ever! the climax of it all was the planetarium where we got to lie down on a reclinable chair to watch an educational movie on the seasons of the world where we learned about the tilt of the EARTH! Luke and Kyla
At the camp itself it was a lot of fun, we played Polly pong and games we brought from home like uno or cards. The food was mostly good we had only one mid meal but other then that it was good. Our cabins where cozy, the beds were comfy and in a lot of the cabins had steps that doubled as storage. We had so much fun we will remember this camp decades to come By Max C and Siena H
The Ned Kelly court room drama was held at the old Melbourne Magistrates' Court. We had the opportunity to reenact the Ned Kelly Trial. Some of us were given different roles as well as scripts guiding us through the original trial. Examples of the roles include, Ned Kelly the man on charge, Henry Bindon the unqualified defence lawyer, Smyth the prosecutor, The judges assistants, the judge and the witnesses. Ned Kelly was charged with the murder of Constable Thomas Lonigan, was later hanged at the Old Melbourne Gaol which we also got to gist. Overall it was such an interesting experience. Milly & Ivy
Big build: Metro tunnel iPads, TVs, maps and VR headsets are just some of the things that you would expect to find at the Big build headquarters in Melbourne’s CBD (central business district ). Here you can learn about the progress and advantages of the new twin rail tunnel project. In the building we got the privilege to use their VR which shows us the new stations inside of the tunnels and the due date of the completion. On their iPads they have a game that uses you as a train station manager and has a cool Minecraft server that is a replica of Melbourne. This amazing beneficial project will be completed during the year 2025-2026. Xander and Cailan
The Old Melbourne Gaol was creepy, haunted, and scary. It was very old and historic. The haunted stories showed how ghosts still hung around in the jail and haunted anyone who entered the room. Haunted stories included touching and pulling hair and smelling smoke. The meals they fed the prisoners were potato peels and meat and made into soup for them to later eat. The men got fed a large portion of food, whereas the women got half of that, and the children got a quarter. The Old Melbourne Gaol was very interesting to learn about. By Allira and Anthony
Public transport “Stay together! We don’t want anyone to get lost!” Mrs Price and Mrs Kos yell. Picture this: 44 kids bustling around a busy shopping centre, about to go into the train station. Hectic. Noisy. We lined up against the wall and our teachers counted us. Then we made our way onto the train station platform. “Here comes our train! Stay together!” our teachers yell. We huddle on and zoom off. The next day we do the same, except on a tram, not a train. As we pull up to the stop outside the Queen Vic Market lots of us spot Taylor Swift merch.
