VCE Season of Excellence Top Arts 2024

Congratulations to Ellie Dabos whose artwork has been selected to be exhibited in the Top Arts Exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria. Top Arts 2024 features the most exceptional work from students who completed the new VCE study designs of Art Creative Practice and Art Making and Exhibiting in 2023.

Ellie’s artwork ‘Empty Space,’ 2023 is about the various forms of isolation that arise from rapid urbanisation, through the depiction of a dehumanised, industrial cityscape that is devoid of individuality. Each sculpture explores distinct facets of isolation: materialism, assimilation into the environment, and alienation. The sculptures use contrasting textures and forms to convey these themes.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Ellie on this remarkable accomplishment. Her inclusion in Top Arts 2024 is not only a personal triumph but also a source of inspiration for her fellow students, encouraging them to pursue their artistic passions with dedication and perseverance.

The Top Arts exhibition opens for viewing on March 14 at NGV Australia, Ground Level, NGV Design Studio. I encourage the Glen Eira' College Community to support Ellie by viewing her remarkable work and voting for the People's Choice Award at the exhibition.

Cyanotype Prints

In a burst of creativity, our Year 10 Photography class embarked on a fascinating journey into the world of cyanotype prints. Inspired by the magic of this alternative photographic process, students first curated individual collages from their own captured moments. These unique collages served as the foundation for their cyanotype prints.

The cyanotype technique, known for its distinctive blue tones, allowed students to transform their carefully crafted collages into striking images. The combination of personal narratives and the ethereal beauty of cyanotype resulted in a stunning collection of prints that truly capture the essence of each student's vision.
