National Young Leaders Day

Wednesday, 28 February

The National Young Leaders Day at the Convention Centre was attended by the 9 school leaders, Mrs Isgar and Kelly. School leaders from primary and high schools across South Australia were also there.

We started our day by dancing, which was led by Dean from Dance Curriculum. We learnt the dance ‘Hill Tap’, it was lots of fun learning the dance moves.

During the day we listened to a number of high-profile Australian’s talk about their journey as a leader. The speakers were:

  • Peter Malinauskas MP - Premier of South Australia
  • Scott Stuart - Best-selling author
  • Anastasia Woolmer - Australian ‘memory’ champion who featured on the Survivor TV series
  • Bryson Klein - Ninja Warrior

We learnt never compare yourself to other people, to be yourself, always try new things and that you can’t go over or under the problem; you have to go through it and deal with it.

During the breaks of the day, we got to eat our food and have photos and autographs with the guest speakers.

Overall, we think the best part of the event was meeting the Ninja and Peter Malinauskas. Dancing, the games and Facts or Wax were so much fun!!!!

The kind of leaders that we want to be for our school are leaders who are respectful, work as a team, role models, are responsible, being ourselves, making people feel welcome and being inclusive.
