Lines of inquiry: Rehearsing cooperatively and productively both in small groups and class ensemble, helps develop effective leadership skills, communication skills and team spirit
Key Concepts: responsibility
Learner Profile Attributes: open-minded, caring
Students will:
- Participate in class singing and drama games, showing a sense of responsibility and care towards each other
- Become more knowledgeable and deepen their understanding of music writing and chords, as they continue to learn to play the Ukulele
- Take risks as they rehearse and perform pieces for Ukulele and as they sing in small groups and class ensembles
- Connect with their Grade 1 Buddy class, as they perform for and engage musically with them

- The ways Japanese students (school captains) demonstrate leadership at their school.

Learner Profile Attributes: reflective, inquirer
Term focus: (language and culture) Adjectives, Self-introduction, Essential phrases for a Japan trip, Graduation at Primary School of Japan, School captains at Japanese Primary school and BNPS, SETSUBUN festival
The students will be able to:
- Describe what they did over the holidays saying and writing …KATTA DES SOSHETE …KATTA DES. (Joining 2 adjectives with a conjunctional word)
- Do Japanese kids hip hop dance
- Spell their name in KATAKANA characters
- Spell Japanese in the right order
- Say and spell essential phrases for a Japan trip such as YUKKURI ITTE KUDASAI, OYASUMINASAI, etc
- Describe what SETSUBUN (Bean throwing festival) is, as well as why, when, how Japanese people celebrate the festival
- Tell what Japanese graduation ceremonies are like
- Write “Happy graduation!” “Good luck at the new school!” to their Japanese friends
- Tell what leadership responsibilities captains at Japanese primary school have
- Write captains (BNPS) duties using a sentence pattern “… SHEMAS SOSHETE…SHEMAS.” (They do… and …) in Japanese characters

- How does effective communication play a role in expressing oneself and leading others in PE?
- What communication strategies enhance leadership skills within a group?
- Leadership styles in PE
- What are various leadership styles and how do they manifest in a PE setting?
- How can different leadership approaches impact group dynamics during PE?
Key Concepts:
- Responsibility:
Looking after each other and the sporting equipment needed in minor games. Safety on the sports field. Understanding Leadership roles with the class and outside of the class as a mentor and leader for other students within the school.
- Connection:
As a role model and leader, communicating clearly with others to enhance game performance as well as developing an understanding of different individual strengths and weaknesses and how to create a connection with those attributes to game performance and team players.

Students will:
- Team Building Activities through Parachute Games and Kubb
- Throwing and Catching Strategy Games. Modified Cricket, Tennis and Softball Activities
- Refine the basic and complex motor skills of Throwing, Catching and Striking in game situations. The children will be consolidating their skills of evaluating the performance of a peer during modified Cricket and Softball games and provide constructive feedback based on performance criteria to assist skill development.
Art

Central idea: Mythology captures narratives, cultural symbolism of traditions, and leadership qualities
Lines of inquiry:
- Cultural narratives and symbolism in mythological imagery. Understanding the cultural significance of images such as animals, colours, shapes, and patterns
- The techniques and materials used in mask-making, specifically cardboard construction, and its potential for conveying symbolic elements and narratives
- Personal interpretation and expression of understanding how their choices of symbolism reflect their interpretation of mythology
Key Concepts: form and perspective
Learner Profile Attributes: open-minded and risk-takers
Students will create:
- A design that explores the unique physical features of mythical Gods, to develop their own character
- A sculptural mask using cardboard construction to depict detail and expression to create their own mythical mask
- Printmaking mosaic of unique pattern inspired by their chosen cultural mythology to be used as the background to the mask. Demonstrating clear bold, graphic design and independent printmaking skill
- Painting, collaging and POSCA detail to complete the overall effect of their Mythological Mask
