Grade Three

We have started the year with positivity and fun.

The Grade three students have been enjoying the Setting Up for Success program. Students looked at themselves and discovered what they have in common. We also discussed what makes us unique and special. Each class discussed our school values, rules and structure. We created a set of expectations and a class goal for the year.

In Literacy, students have been learning the expectations of the Reading and Writing workshop. We spent some time setting up our new book boxes and explored what a good fit book looks like. The students have been discovering what good readers and writers do and how writing pieces are created. Students are learning to gather ideas for their writing and work through the writing process. Soon we will be developing our personal Writer’s Notebooks.

In Mathematics, the Grade Three students have been completing a variety of activities using their number and place value knowledge. They have enjoyed playing mathematics games and have had lots of fun learning and challenging themselves.

Our Integrated topic this term is Identity. Over the last few weeks the students have been working on their individual Identity projects. We are really looking forward to learning about each student’s unique identity.
