PFA

PFA News 8th of March 2024

We had our morning tea, AGM and first PFA meeting this term.

Welcome to all our new parents/members and welcome back to the parents who are returning again this year. It was great to see new and existing faces. We look forward to the year ahead.

The executive members are:

President: Jess Ward

Vice President: Josie Siata Faatau

Secretary: Sarah Higgins

Treasurer: Rebecca Wat

I would like to open the invitation to all parents/guardians to attend a meeting or even help out with events during the year to see what the PFA is all about. You don’t have to commit to every event just when you can help out.

If you want to help with PFA events you would need to have given a copy of your Working with Children’s Card to the office.

If you have questions or would like to join out the PFA please email p.f.a@oatlandsps.vic.edu.au

Book club

Issue 2 has been distributed and is due to be submitted online by Thursday 14th of March.

The best gift any parent can give a child is the love of books and the joy and benefits of independent reading for fun. Children who read at home or are read to have a head start on reading success in school.

Every class is participating in Scholastic Book Club this year. Up to twice a term during the school year, we will send home a catalogue with different selection of books offered for all ages.

You’ll find award-winning books and bestsellers, as well as old and new favourites. We recommend Book Club as the books span a wide range of children’s reading levels and interests and because they are inexpensive (some books cost as little as $2).

It is easy to order. The Book Club LOOP platform for parents, allows payment by credit card. Your child’s order is submitted directly to school safe and sound and the books will be delivered to class. You can place your child’s order at scholastic.com.au/LOOP or using the LOOP app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play or send your order to the school office.

A benefit of Scholastic Book Club is that our school earns 15% in Scholastic Rewards on all Book Club orders which helps the school to obtain free books and additional learning resources. However there is never any obligation to order.

There is no better way to encourage reading than to allow children to choose the books they want to read.

Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser

We are running a Hot Cross Bun fundraiser this term to raise funds for our school.

For every 6 pack of Hot Cross Buns ordered, Bakers Delight Cranbourne will give $2.50 to our school. Please see the form attached. All forms and payment need to be handed into the office by 9am 14/3/24 and your buns will be ready for collection on Thursday 21st of March (we will send out a message once they arrive).

This is pre-order event only and hot cross buns will not be available to purchase on the pick up day.

Remember to ask family and friends if they would like to order some too.
