This is what our students have been up to this week.
On Monday the grade 5’s walked to the outstanding skate park of Mount Beauty to do our skateboard lessons. While the walk was beautiful we had a discussion and a recap of what we have been doing in the past lessons. Kathryn sure does know how to start a conversation.
When we got to the skate park Al and Luke were waiting for us. Al split the group in half so that the people that went in the bowl with him would go with Luke, and the people that went with Luke on the ramps, would go with Al.
Al and Luke drove down to us from Albury/Wodonga… and they REALLY like country music!
In our lesson we learned about mindfulness and relaxation. We have been enjoying it a lot.
After we spend half an hour to an hour talking about health we get our gear on for our skating. The gear we get on is a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards. So we are very protected.
After doing a lot of tick tacks and cool moves we have to go back to school. But before we go one of us very special children get to go up to the front and say a big thank you to Luke and Al.
And that is what we have been doing for every Monday and we all wish for the next and the next Monday to come.

On Monday we went for a lovely walk over to the skatepark were Al taught us all about Mindfulness and Relaxation. He talked about all the many things we can do to relax ourselves such as singing in the shower, going for a walk, listening to music and many more.
After that Al split us into 2 groups, one was doing knee sliding in the bowl and the other group was going back and forth on the ramps.
Knee sliding was really fun. We went on the short drops and the long drops and when we went down the ramps you could barely feel a thing… the protection gear was very soft.
The other group was going back and forth, some were doing tic tacks in-between.

Students in years Prep, 1 and 2 are learning about permanent and impermanent changes. You can't change cooked spaghetti back to it's organic shape. We also talked about why we can't build towers with cooked spaghetti.
Our Prep/1 class have been having a great time imagining what they may look like at 100 years of age.
Anna has been celebrating with the class 100 days of school.
