On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, students in years 3-6 participated in some School of Play workshops led by Play consultants Dale Sidebottom and Paul Campbell. The sessions focussed on the benefits of play to improve creativity, reduce anxiety, promote stronger social circles and mindfulness. In addition to learning about the science, through play
students also exercised gratitude and random acts of kindness, which also have positive health benefits. Dale is the author of 'All Work, No Play', a TEDx speaker and author of 'Energetic Radio' podcast. He has worked with schools and corporations around the world.
On the 2nd and 3rd September, this will be further supported by Prep-6 student workshops with Mindful Aus. These workshops will be delivered, thanks to AGL, and will also provide families with the opportunity to attend a parent/teacher workshop on Monday 2nd September at 3.30pm.
Mindfulness, was also the topic of discussion during Year 5's Monday's Skateboarding session. In addition to focussing on their skating, students practised mindfulness through activities like taking time to 'notice 5 things'.
Unfortunately, the recent wet weather put a dampner on this week's planned Year 5/6 XC skiing event. Our fingers and toes are crossed for some more snow over the coming week!
