PREP NEWS
Hi Prep parents!
Only 3 weeks until the end of term!
Term 3 finishes on Friday 20th September.
This week we have been very busy once again!
In literacy we have been playing bingo with some CVC words that the students can sound out (decode) themselves. They are each getting a turn at being the group leader which they are enjoying.
In Maths we have been focusing on teen numbers. We even had a shop set up this week and the students had to go to the bank (run by prep students), get $20, and buy something from the shop (run by prep students) and work out how much change they will need from $20. Students are learning that a $10 note is 10, and they will need 5 more $1 coins to make $15, for example.
Reminders:
Put an alarm or reminder on your phone if you keep forgetting on Monday’s to return your child’s satchel. They need to bring it with the following inside:
- Decodable readers x2 (these are school property and need to be returned or replaced)
- Library books x2 (these are school property and need to be returned or replaced)
- Homework book
- Reading log.
If students don’t bring these back on Monday, it is unlikely we will have time to return and reborrow until the following week. Reading every night is paramount in the success of your child progressing their reading to remain on track for year 1.
Fathers Day Stall is tomorrow – 30th August.
Please pack some money for your child if they wish to purchase a small gift for a father figure in their life.
Father’s Day Afternoon Tea is also tomorrow. Register on compass for any purchases of food you would like. No cash sales will be available on the day.
Thank you for all your support. Please contact your classroom teacher at any time if you have any questions or concerns.
