Grade 2 Report
CERES Excursion
Our Grade 2 children recently went on our Term 3 excursion to CERES in Brunswick. Although it was a little cool, the sun came out and we had a lovely day exploring the grounds of CERES and participating in fun and engaging activities.
We learned all about the water cycle, inspected the pond to see if it’s healthy by searching for particular water bugs, made cute little bee bath for bees to enjoy, and took home native Warragul green seeds that were wrapped in clay balls to plant in our own backyards.
Here is what some of our students had to say:
James 2AC: CERES was really good. I learnt all about the water cycle.
My favourite part was when we went fishing with the nets to look for bugs.
Harriette 2AC: My favourite part was making the seed balls because
it’s really cool how the seed comes out of the clay when it dries.
Harry 2AC: My favourite part was when we went fishing and we
caught different species of bugs.
Beatrice 2AC: I liked how we went fishing for bugs in the pond and
found water bugs.
Harvey 2AB: I liked learning about the water cycle.
Ruby 2AB: I liked the bits where you had to find little bugs.
Odette 2AB: I liked learning how the water cycle works and making the bee baths.
Multiplication
As we finished our Water Unit, we also completed our Maths Unit on Multiplication. Over the past few weeks, Grade 2 students have been learning the basic concepts of multiplication, using grouping, skip counting, and arrays.
We now know our 2 times tables and are beginning work on our understanding of division. To wrap up our topic, we created an Array City to demonstrate our understanding. Here are some of our colourful pieces.
