WHOLE SCHOOL PERFORMANCE

What an incredible experience we all had last week with our whole school performance, ‘We Belong’! It was an evening filled with talent, joy, and a true sense of community. Every student, from our youngest to our oldest, shone brightly, showcasing their hard work and growth over the past months.

The diversity of performances mirrored the diversity within our school, creating an event that was rich in culture, creativity, and collaboration.

A huge thank you to our dedicated staff for making this event a reality, and in particular, to Mrs. Downie and Mrs. Banfield, our outstanding performing arts teachers. Your passion and guidance inspired our students to be their best and helped make the performance a night we will all remember.

FATHER’S DAY FUN AT OPPS

What an unforgettable Father’s Day celebration we had on Thursday, 29th August! Our school grounds were buzzing with excitement as dads and special friends joined their children for a fun-filled afternoon at the Father’s Day Amazing Race. The smiles, laughter, and teamwork were incredible as each Learning Community hosted a range of exciting activities that brought families together for quality time and shared experiences.

The event was all about creating cherished memories, and it was heartwarming to see so many dads connecting with their children, embracing the challenges, and just enjoying the time together. To cap off the festivities, we came together for the much-anticipated Father’s Day raffle, which added a little extra thrill to an already fantastic afternoon.

Earlier in the day, our wonderful Parents and Friends group hosted the Father’s Day and Special Person’s Stall, giving students the chance to select the perfect $5 gift for their loved ones. The stall was a huge hit, with students eagerly choosing something special to show their appreciation.

A big thank you to everyone who made the day so memorable, especially our Parents and Friends group and all the staff who helped organize the event. It was a day full of joy, laughter, and family connection—one we will all treasure for years to come!

R U OK? DAY – Thursday, 12th September

Next Thursday, 12th September, we will be marking R U OK? Day is a day dedicated to raising awareness around mental health and checking in with those around us.

Our student leaders encourage all students to wear a splash of yellow to show support for this important initiative. Let’s brighten the day and remind each other that a conversation can make a big difference.

FOOTY DAY – Friday, 20th September

Get ready for some footy fun! On the last day of Term, Friday 20th September, we’ll be celebrating Footy Day. Students are encouraged to dress up in their favourite footy gear, and the highlight of the day will be a Staff vs. Students footy match during the middle block. It’s sure to be a blast!

Our Parents and Friends group have also organised a special footy lunch. Students can order from a variety of options via the Canteen function on Compass; please refer to the Compass post for further details. To help everyone get into the footy spirit, Fleur has kindly adjusted her Canteen days to Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for the week leading up to Footy Day.

REMINDER KINDER CAR PARK AND STUDENT SAFETY

We’d like to take a moment to thank those who have already stopped using the Kurmboon Kindergarten car park during drop-off and pick-up times. Your support is helping to keep our youngest community members safe, and we truly appreciate it.

Additionally, please remember to observe the speed zones around the school and use the designated parking areas during drop-off and pick-up. Let’s work together to ensure the safety of all students and families during these peak times.
