God our Father, we give you thanks and praise for fathers young and old.
We pray for young fathers, newly embracing their vocation;
may they find courage and perseverance to balance work,
family and faith in joy and sacrifice.
We pray for fathers around the world whose children are lost or suffering;
may they know that the God of compassion walks with them in their sorrow.
We pray for men who are not fathers but still mentor and guide us
with fatherly love and advice.
We remember fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers
who are no longer with us but who live forever
in our memory and nourish us with their love.
Amen.
Last Tuesday, the staff of St Fidelis engaged in learning about Mary Mackillop. Throughout the day we experienced and reflected on Mary’s life and how she cared for people and in particular children.
Mary Mackillop was born in Fitzroy on the 15th of January 1842, and co-founded the congregation of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart in Penola in 1866. She died in North Sydney on the 8th of August 1909 and was canonised Saint Mary of the Cross Mackillop in Rome on the 17th of October 2110. She is Australia’s first saint.
The Mary Mackillop Heritage Centre is open to the public and is located at 362 Albert Street, East Melbourne. I encourage families to visit this centre.
The choir meets every Monday at lunchtime and is facilitated by Amir from Experience Music. Amir engages the children with a variety of styles of music, including songs that the children can sing at mass, assemblies, and whole-school celebrations.

The Carry A Can donation is a great way to assist those in need. This year as a catholic school community you are invited to donate various canned foods on non-perishable food items to our Christmas hampers, to support people in need. All donations can be left at the front office.https://www.catholiccarevic.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Carry-a-Can-Poster-1.pdf
Our next class mass will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd, at 9.15am. The following classes will be celebrating mass: 1/2VS and 5/6BZ. All parents and carers are invited to attend this celebration.
God Bless and have a great week
