From the Leadership Team
Term 3 has started in earnest!
So much has happened and there is so much to come. One focus for students in Term 3 is the choosing of subjects for the following year. Earlier this week we had the Senior Years Course Information Sessions and Careers Expo. During this night students and families had the opportunity to hear an overview of the SACE, the latest VET information and key information relevant to each specific year level.
The Year 9s into 10s 2025 session, shared the new subject EIF (Exploring Identities and Futures). This replaces the PLP and is the first part of the SACE revitalisation program.
The other change at Year 10 for 2025 is the introduction of Science options.
Students can now choose to study a choice of three options which include a focus on Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Psychology.
In Year 11 next year each student will also study AIF (Activating Identities and Futures) which replaces Research Project.
The sessions finished with Year 12s starting to consider what their next step after Endeavour College will be. It certainly is an exciting time to be a learner!
The Careers Expo ran concurrently and was a huge success. Information is power, and to be able to have a range of education providers here at the College meant that no matter what the pathway, students could find something relevant and helpful for them.
Having the latest information straight for the providers is so important when senior students are making decisions about pathways and subjects for the following year.
This evening was the start of our subject selection process, which will now lead into student and parent meetings to help set and/or confirm student pathways and their subject preferences. I look forward to hearing the stories from students in Weeks 6 and 7 of how they are achieving so far in their academic work and where they would like to go into the future.
The Senior Years Curriculum Guide is on the College website under Learning and Senior Years. This document and the PowerPoints from the Information Sessions can also be accessed via the Careers and Pathways Canvas Course.
When we talk about holistic education, this is an important part of it.
Upcoming events include the Senior Drama Production, Sports Carnivals, Centre Stage, Pedal Prix, Science and Mathematics Competitions, Debating rounds and finals and various incursions here at the College.
It is exhausting just reading the list - but how amazing! I am not sure how it is for you, but for me it is a little like a rollercoaster: exciting, challenging, fun and a little scary.
Let's buckle up our metaphorical seatbelts and enjoy Term 3!
