Japanese
Foundation students have been learning how to say body parts in Japanese. They love singing the Japanese version of 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes' and you can sing along with them at home using this YouTube link!
They also drew a Father's Day card and learnt that the Japanese Kanji for 'Father' can look like a man if they drew the arms, legs and a head. Hopefully this helps them to remember it!
Year 1/2 students have been learning how to say stationery items such as pencil, glue and ruler. There are some tricky items to pronounce in Japanese, but it has been great to see a lot of students not being afraid to say the words. Playing word games allowed them to have fun as they learnt.
The Year 3/4 students' topic this term is 'Food' and they have been learning about a lot of yummy Japanese food and how to say "I eat/don't eat food" in Japanese. We also did some physical exercise following a Japanese kids aerobic exercise video. They had fun mimicking the physical movements and listening to the basic Japanese sounds and words. I recommend you get them some more exposure to Japanese by doing the exercises with them at the this YouTube link!
