Principal's Message

 Mrs Josie Crisara

As another school year ends, we reflect on the year, which has been filled with the growth and achievements of all students. Students have worked hard, been dedicated and shown resilience.  The passion for learning is evident as is the commitment to excellence.  The partnership parents have with the school is evident in nurturing the growth of children leading to a strong foundation for success.

Our teachers and staff have played an integral role in student learning, fostering creativity and critical thinking. We thank them for their commitment and unwavering effort over the year. We also thank the members of the College Board who volunteer their time and oversee the Governance of the College.

We congratulate the winners of academic and colour awards that have been presented at assemblies and Presentation Night. The list is below:

In light of technology associated with robots and AI, at Presentation evening I spoke on the topic of  “What does it mean to be human?’ and summed it up with the following words:

‘Being human is about the depth of our emotions, the height of our creativity, the power of thoughts, the richness of communication, the compassion we show and the values we exhibit. If you embrace these qualities you’ll find the essence of what it truly means to be human.’

There will be some major works over the holidays at the College entrance with the aim to be completed by the time school resumes in February.  We also look forward to the start of the construction of the new P-2 building.

As we embrace this advent season, Christmas is a time for reflection, gratitude and coming together with loved ones.  May the spirit of this festive season fill your heart with love, peace and hope.

I encourage all to take a well-deserved break, cherish time spent with family and friends, and look forward to what the new year will bring.

Official opening of the Cumberland building

On 20 November, we celebrated the official opening of the Cumberland building in the presence of Mr Iwan Walters (Member for Greenvale), Mr Evan Mulholland (Member for Northern Metropolitan Region and Shadow Minister for Home Ownership / Housing Affordability / Outer Suburban Growth), Mr Enver Erdogan (Member for Northern Metropolitan Region and Minister for Corrections, Youth Justice and Victim Support), Mr Naim Kurt (Mayor of Hume City Council) and Chair of the College Board, Ms Marianne Stillwell.

Mr Darren Cheeseman (Parliamentary Secretary for Education, representing Minister for Education Ben Carroll), spoke of his impressions of the College and the importance of investing in education.

We were also joined by founding Principal, Mr Doug Mahoney and two former Chairs of the College Board, Rev Clem Dickinson and Mr Rob Evans along with other dignitaries, College Staff, students and parents.

It was a very special day and although the building has been operating and being enjoyed by our Cumberland students for the past school year, it was a big project to dream, plan and execute. We thank all of the teachers, staff, parents and students who have given life to this wonderful new building.
