Hollows House: Celebrating Achievements and Looking Ahead to 2024

As the end of 2023 approaches, it's time to reflect on the remarkable journey we've had as a Hollows House community. This year has been a testament to the dedication, enthusiasm, and engagement of our students, and we couldn't be prouder of each and every one of you. While the final results might not have fallen in our favour compared to the other houses, it's essential to recognise the incredible strides we've made academically. Hollows House has truly shone brightly in various aspects, securing the highest number of values nominations, showing remarkable growth in learning habits reports, and achieving commendable success across all academic domains within the school. We’ve also been highly active in the mentor group competitions this year, led by Mr Hare and have achieved some amazing things in the areas of physical, academic, cultural and community engagement.

To our new families joining us in 2024, thank you for attending our recent Year 7 parent information evening despite the unpredictable weather. The turnout was fantastic, and seeing so many Hollows families there was truly heartening. We eagerly await our statewide Orientation day on December 12th, where we'll warmly welcome our new Year 7 students and their families into the Hampton Park community, especially those becoming a part of Hollows House.

For our 2023 students, congratulations on a successful commencement period. Your seamless transition into new classes and the positive feedback from your teachers have been truly commendable. Your display of various learning dispositions, especially resilience, adapting to situations and responding admirably, has been a real highlight.

We're thrilled to report a significant improvement in attendance within our house. Your dedication to studies, time management, and adherence to attendance processes - obtaining medical certificates when unwell, parental communication for absences, and providing notes for tardiness - are noteworthy achievements that we celebrate and encourage you all to continue to do moving into the new year.

The consistent high number of values nominations across all areas is commendable. Whether it's demonstrating respect, working together with your teachers and peers, showing a dedication to learning, demonstrating leadership qualities, or fostering a strong sense of community spirit, we cherish and honour those who actively embody these values.

Across the entire year, we have achieved the following amounts of values nominations in each category:

RESPECT805 points (161 nominations)
LEARNING11340 points (2268 nominations)
WORKING TOGETHER3645 points (729 nominations)
COMMUNITY395 points (79 nominations)
LEADERSHIP700 points (140 nominations)

The overall winner of the highest amount of Values Nominations in 2023 for Hollows House was Sahar Mohseni (185 points, 37 nominations). Congratulations, Sahar!

Looking forward to 2024, we encourage you all to continue striving for excellence. Aim higher than before, explore new opportunities, and embrace challenges. We're committed to supporting your academic, career, and extracurricular aspirations, fostering resilience, and nurturing the skills essential for your personal growth.

As the year draws to a close, we wish everyone a fantastic end-of-year break. To those celebrating Christmas, may this festive season be filled with joy, love, and cherished moments with your families. Stay safe, recharge, and we eagerly await welcoming you back in 2024 for another exciting chapter in Hollows House.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication and enthusiasm throughout 2023. Here's to a bright and promising future ahead!

Warm regards,

Brad Andrews,

Hollows House Leader
