from Julie's Desk.

Can you believe it is 11 days until Christmas?  I can’t!  What a week it has been.  On Monday night we welcomed our 2024 Prep families.  On Tuesday morning our current students met their 2024 teachers and class.  On Tuesday afternoon we welcomed our 2024 Preps to meet their teachers and class, and last night we celebrated the Graduation of the Class of 2023.  Talk about rites of passage!  We are so privileged to have educated and supported all of the students this year and look forward to the new adventures that will commence in 2024.  Thank you for your partnership, we couldn’t do it without you.

While this Christmas season is positive for most, we are acutely aware of the personal and financial pressures that some families will face. Please see below community resources that you can draw on over the break (and at any time). Moving into 2024, please contact me if you need support to purchase school uniforms and/or are struggling to afford necessities for school: Julie.reid2@education.vic.gov.au.

Commencing 2024 - Tips

As a Mum myself, I am aware that the holidays are often an opportunity to have many ‘pyjama days’, late nights, sleep ins, and flexibility around meal times.  Can I recommend however that the week before school commences on Wednesday 31st January 2024, you consider undertaking all or some of the following activities:

  • Routine bed times
  • Routine wake up times
  • Morning routine practice, including putting uniforms on
  • Routine eating times – At school brain food is at 10am, recess is at 11.30am and lunch is at 1.50pm
  • Lunch box opening and closing practices
  • Visits to the school to play, or practise which gates drop off and pick up will be at (except Preps)

Undertaking the above will assist the children to feel settled and ready to learn in 2024.

Have a wonderful and safe break, and don’t forget to say goodbye to our wonderful Robyn, who is retiring.
