Dear Parents and Carers,

We certainly had a very exciting day with a visit from a snake. We are so lucky we have Ahsien, the snake handler on speed dial. Because we have such an efficient gardens and grounds contractor it was not too difficult a task to capture our visitor. I am sure the students now understand why I say not to go into the long grass or the bushes. Please talk to them about the incident and why we must always think about safety first.

Sometimes, we Christians are so involved with the busy preparations for the Christmas celebrations, we forget the main purpose in Advent, is to prepare ourselves in heart, mind and deed to welcome Jesus, who comes to us in different ways:

  • He came to us in our humanity at Bethlehem about 2000 years ago.
  • He comes to us in the Eucharist and in the readings of scripture; he speaks to us in our consciences.
  • He comes to us in the person of the needy, the suffering, the dispossessed.

We should be ready to welcome Him whenever he comes, however He comes.

As we move through Advent, our excitement for Christmas builds for the Christmas holiday break (YES!!). Amidst the gift buying and holiday preparations we need to be mindful of the gift that God gives us every day in Jesus. It is the gift of life, the gift that keeps giving.

Please remember to help the needy in our community by contributing to the Vinnies Christmas appeal which finishes next Thursday morning.

Our final Mass for the year will be held next Friday at 9:15, it will be an opportunity to farewell our Yr 6’s and the families that are leaving us

Keep smiling

Cathy
