Year 12 Retreat at Genazzano, Lake Tinaroo

Year 12 Retreat: "I Was Born to Be..."

From the 28th to the 30th of April, our Year 12 students embarked on a deeply meaningful and joy-filled retreat at the Genazzano Retreat Centre on the tranquil shores of Lake Tinaroo. Centred on the theme “I was born to be…”, the retreat invited students to reflect on their unique purpose and identity in light of their faith, gifts, and relationships.

Throughout the three days, students engaged in a variety of creative and reflective activities designed to affirm their individuality and the sacredness of others. A highlight was the creation of tie-dye shirts, symbolising non-conformity and the courage to be authentically oneself. Another powerful moment came as students painted each other’s faces, a gesture of recognising and affirming the signs of holiness they see in one another.

The retreat also included time for games, singing, and community building, culminating in a moving evening around the campfire. Here, students shared hidden talents, stories, and laughter, creating a space of mutual encouragement and deep connection.

Staff were especially proud of the students’ outstanding behaviour and the way they supported one another throughout the retreat. Their openness, respect, and willingness to engage made this experience not only memorable but transformative.

We are grateful to all who contributed to the success of the retreat and continue to pray that each of our Year 12 students walks confidently in the truth of who they were born to be.
