Performing Arts Co-curricular Program
Welcome to our final report for 2023! The year has flown by, and there is so much to be thankful for as we head into the Summer break.
Drama Club!
A huge congratulations to our Drama Club staff and students for our first ever Drama Showcase. Ms Mhairi Shepherd and Ms Ashley Conlan worked with students from a range of year levels over the course of the year to prepare two plays for presentation to family and friends on Tuesday 21 November. They were supported by Adele Profeta and Csilla Schild on lighting and sound, Ms Rachel Andrews in the make up space, and Ms Belinda McGrath as prompt. Finally, we thank Ms Olivia Fitzpatrick for her work with publicity and promotion, and our School Leadership Team for their support.
These performances gave younger students a sense of what can be achieved with continued participation in Drama, both in the classroom program as well as the co-curricula program.
Christmas Concert
Performing Arts ensembles are wrapping up their year with a lunchtime concert for Year 7 students and invited guests of performers. Marian College Choir, Play Ukelele! and Concert Band will be performing next Thursday 30 November in the Auditorium, featuring Christmas music that each group is rehearsing, finishing with a combined performance of Jingle Bells to ring in the festive season.
Creative Music in Schools
Instrumental lessons will finish for the term in the next week. We thank CMS teachers Sebastian Zuluaga and Annie Bui for their work with our students this year. We are taking expressions of interest for enrolments in 2024. Lessons are available in piano/keyboards, singing, guitar, and drums. Information brochures are available from any Performing Arts teachers, or the Performing Arts office, and questions about lessons can be directed to either myself or Mr Adele Profeta at the College.
We wish all our students and staff a safe and happy festive season and summer break. If you have any questions about any of the ensembles or music lessons on offer, please feel free to contact me at the College.
