2023 Fair

What Is Happening At The Fair?

We hope that everyone is looking forward to the RPS fair on Saturday.

An amazing group of parents have been working all year to plan this day, and we want everyone to have as much fun as possible. And the weather looks perfect!

We thought we would let you know what you can do at the fair.

Kids entertainment

  • Rides – 6 different inflatables
  • Stage – different performances from RPS kids, and MacLeod College, as well as a dance party plus more!
  • Art show – make sure you come to the Art room and see what amazing creative pieces the kids have been making this year.
  • Dunk tank! – Dunk the teachers!
  • Biscuit decorating.
  • Guess the lollies.
  • Chocolate trailer.
  • Chill out zone, plus art stations.
  • Latrobe uni sports, Taekwondo, and calisthenics activities

Stalls

  • Face painting
  • Plants
  • Books
  • Lucky envelope
  • Cakes
  • Silent auction

Food

  • Fairy floss
  • Devonshire tea
  • Teacher’s BBQ
  • Food trucks (Curly fries, Japanese pancakes, and Greek street food)
  • Bar

So, we hope there is something for everyone.

See you on Saturday!

Waste Management

It might not be an exciting topic, but a lot of thought has been put into waste management for the fair, and we wanted to let you all know about it.

We will have 10 bin stations around the school grounds on Saturday, with 3 bins and 1 bag at each.

The 3 bins are:

  • Recycling
  • Compost and
  • General waste

The bag is for cans.

We hope that most of the fair waste will go into the recycling and compost bins. In fact all of the food waste should be split into these two bins because the food trucks will serve your food on paper – either paper plates, cardboard boxes, or serviettes.

And the curly potatoes will be on wooden sticks.

You can empty your uneaten food into the compost bins, and then put the paper and wooden sticks in the recycling bins.

The weekend after the fair the garden club will be making a hot compost. We will let everyone know the date that we will do this and all will be welcome to help us and learn about composting. A hot compost is when we build up layers of food waste (which are called “the greens”) and paper/dried leaf waste (which are called “the browns”). It breaks down over a few months and creates lovely compost for the garden.

All the drinks from the BBQ will be sold in cans and these will be part of the new 10c deposit scheme. This is a great way to recycle and will make even more money for the school. We encourage you to put your cans in the special bags for this.

Then anything else will go into the general waste bins. We hope that these wont be too full by the end of the fair.

PS the food at the fair will be very delicious.

We will have:

  • Curly potatoes
  • Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancakes)
  • Greek street food
  • And the Epic Teacher’s BBQ. This stall will make the most money for the school so we hope that if you like sausages, then you will buy one from the teachers. All sausages are gluten free, and halal and we will have gluten free bread for those who want it too.

Ride Information

The Rosanna Primary fair is aiming to have a variety of inflatable fun for all kids.

We thought that parents may want to show their kids what is on offer before purchasing a ticket. All images below are courtesy of Aussie Events and Amusements. Some rides have height or age restrictions.

We have kept costs as low as possible so that as many kids can participate on the day.

For the cost of $30 per child (or see discounts for multiple children below) your child will have unlimited access to the rides, for the entire duration of the fair. We do have single ride passes for $5 as well.

Dear Parents

We are looking for volunteers to help run the stalls at the Rosanna Primary School fair to be held on Saturday 18th November 2023 from 2-7pm.

The roles are dependent on the particular stall but may include any of the following activities: selling goods/services & receiving cash, overseeing children’s activities, or serving food. There are already lead stall co-ordinators for each stall as you can see on the sign-up sheet and you will receive instructions at each stall.

The only roles that require specific qualifications are:

  • First aid stall (first aid certificate required)
  • Devonshire tea (barista is required for one role).

Attached is the sign up link that is to be used. It is the same one we used in 2019 so if you signed up then, it may remember your email. If not, then click on new user and enter your details.  https://signup.zone/rosanna-ps-fair

Please note that by signing up, you acknowledge you have sighted the OHS compliance document located on the Rosanna Primary website. http://rosannaps.vic.edu.au/uploads/3/8/8/9/38894083/rps_fair_ohs_volunteer_requirements.pdf

Any further questions on the roles or how to navigate, please contact Lee-Anne Jorgensen on ldateline@gmail.com.

We understand that each family at RPS is different, and it may not be possible for all families to volunteer, however in order to make the fair a success, the committee would be grateful if as many families as possible volunteer for one or two slots in an area that interests you. If you have extended relatives or friends then please share the link with them also. Many hands make light work. And of course, if you would like to sign up for multiple slots/stalls, you will hold a special place in our hearts forever.

Thanks

Lee-Anne and Jackie
