Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships

This term in Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships the Year 3 team have covered two topics. Earlier in the term we looked at Emotional Literacy. Through this topic students learnt about:
Emotions and what they look and feel like
How emotions can change throughout the day
Supporting peers by describing factors that contribute to positive relationships with fellow students
Identifying peer support strategies for the classroom and playground.
Students are currently engaged in lessons helping them identify and develop personal strengths. We are working on lessons that will assist students to:
Identify skills and strengths they wish to develop
Describe factors that contribute to positive relationships with people at school, home and in the community
Identify communication skills that enhance relationships
Describe characteristics of cooperative behaviour and identify evidence of these in group activities.
Research in the field of positive psychology emphasises the importance of identifying and using individual strengths. Social and emotional learning programs which use strength-based approaches promote student wellbeing, positive behaviour and academic achievement.
