Prep CM & Prep SG: Visual Arts – Semester 1, Term 1, 2025
In Prep, we explored colour by painting vibrant lollipops using the primary colours—red, blue, and yellow. For the backgrounds, we mixed and applied the secondary colours—orange, green, and purple. Throughout the lesson, we also practiced using watercolour paints effectively, learning how to control the brush and blend colours smoothly. By the end of the session, each student had created a brilliant Primary Lollipop Painting, showcasing their understanding of colour mixing and painting techniques.
1CJ: Visual Arts – Semester 1, Term 1, 2025
In Term 1 of 2025, our Year One students engaged in an art project inspired by doughnut boxes. They began by tracing the lines of their doughnut box designs using black oil pastels or crayons. This exercise introduced them to the concept of value, as they experimented with applying varying pressure to create light and dark shades of color. Additionally, the students explored variety by using a range of colors and techniques, ensuring each doughnut box was unique. By the end of the lesson, they had each completed a distinctive and vibrant doughnut box drawing.
2HV & 2NH: Visual Arts – Semester 1, Term 1, 2025
In Year Two, our students delved into the vibrant world of artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, drawing inspiration from his profound connection to nature. We focused on the elements of line and colour, encouraging students to draw organic shapes and concentric circles reminiscent of natural forms using oil pastels. By the end of the lesson, each student had created a unique "lollipop city" painting, reflecting Hundertwasser's distinctive style and their personal artistic expression.
3NS & 3JA: Visual Arts – Semester 1, Term 1, 2025
This term in Year Three, students explored colour theory and experimented with watercolours to create vibrant self-portrait paintings. They carefully painted their self-portraits using expressive lines, focusing on achieving smooth, controlled brushstrokes. Students also thoughtfully selected contrasting watercolour backgrounds to complement their outlines, enhancing the visual impact of their artwork.
4ME, 4JT & 4ST: Visual Arts – Semester 1, Term 1, 2025
In Year Four, we studied Leonardo da Vinci and his iconic painting, the Mona Lisa, which inspired us to create our own chalk drawings. We focused on using line to carefully trace or sketch a detailed representation of the Mona Lisa. Additionally, we explored value by blending chalk pastels or charcoal to create at least four distinct shades in our artwork. By the end of the project, we had successfully produced stunning mixed-media Mona Lisa landscapes.
Happy Creating,
Kind regards,
