Year 7 Camp Reflections, Quotes and Photos |  Meet the team  |  Junior School Reminders

Year 7 camp was one of the most fun camps I've been to. The food was amazing. The trip was a little bumpy there and, on the way, back causing some bus sickness. The activities they encouraged us to do were so fun and made me want to go to Forest Edge a thousand times. The activities we did included flying fox which was a staggering 312m! Also archery, riddle rogaine, water sledding, high ropes and rock wall. The food was really good and the best part was that we could get seconds which was just awesome. - Joubert P.

Camp was a very fun experience, the view there was a beautiful sight. One of the highlights I had was the Flying Fox, River Sledding and Rock Climbing. But those couldn't compare to the meals, the food was so good, so yummy and everybody enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner. The best experience was last night where our dear english teacher Mr Mcintyre led us to a nighwalk, where we saw the beautiful night sky filled with shiny stars. Along the way of the walk, we saw many kangaroos hopping around, but I gotta say that was the biggest workout of my life. - Karen L.

Going to Forest Edge Camp was a fun experience. The camp, surrounded by towering trees and air, offered so many exciting activities, but the flying fox was by far the most thrilling. Strapping in, I soared through the air, the wind rushing past me as I glided over the forest. The adrenaline was unlike anything I'd ever felt before. The view from above was breathtaking, and the sense of freedom made me feel like I could fly forever. It was a perfect mix of excitement and nature.  – Jackson J.

1 day before camp and I was freaking out. I never went to the forest edge and I wasn't super excited. On the bus ride it was pretty interesting. It was mostly the boys at the back screaming and laughing like always. The best part at camp was definitely the flying fox. Apparently, it was the 3rd longest in Australia which added to my excitement.  When I went on it was the best moment of my life. I just wish I could go back in time and relive that moment. The biggest challenge at camp was probably the night walk because we went on this really steep hill and I swear I think my legs broke for a moment. Overall forest edge is definitely a 10/10.  - Azra K.

I really enjoyed Year 7 camp! I felt I really connected with my peers and made nice connections with others!
I had a lot of fun at Year 7 camp because the activities were very fun and helped build and strengthen relationships. Overall the camp was definitely worth it.
I loved the activities, finding out the cabins, and the talent show was great! A highlight was when everyone was dancing and singing on the stage.
Pretty much all the activities were good and I liked the talent show the most.
Free time was fun and the food was pretty good.
Flying fox because it was the 3rd longest flying fox in Victoria.
My overall highlights of camp were water sledding because I loved the thrill of going into the river and feeling the water on my skin.
I really enjoyed Year 7 camp. One of the reasons is because of the perimeters. It was cool how much space there was at the camp. I really enjoyed the flying fox.
Overall I think Year 7 camp was really fun because I got into a cabin with my friends and the activities were enjoyable. I especially liked the free time in between.

Timely reminders for Year 7 and 8 parents

Uniform

Please ensure your student is wearing the correct uniform, including black polishable shoes and plain socks without a logo.

PE Uniform guidelines for timetabled classes:

  • Periods 1 and 2 or 3 and 4 – students must wear their academic uniform to school and change into their PE uniform at school for their lesson and change back into their academic uniform at the conclusion of their PE lesson.
  • Periods 5 and 6 – students must wear their academic uniform to school and change into their PE uniform at school for their lesson, they can then wear their PE uniform home (no requirement to change).

There is a full explanation of the uniform items available, and the college expectations in the school diary/planner and in the Uniform Policy on the website. Please email Linda Palermo, Junior School Director if you are experiencing difficulties securing the correct uniform for your student.

School Diary/Planner

Every student in Junior School has received a named diary/planner with the expectation that it is carried to every lesson on every school day. The planner is used to record homework, due dates for assignments, test dates; as well as excursions and special events.

Very importantly, it is also used as a ‘hall pass’ when students need to go to the toilet or sickbay or Wellbeing appointments during class time.

Laptops

It would be greatly appreciated if laptops can be fully battery charged as a regular routine in the evenings so your student comes to school with enough battery to last the day. At home, please create a space for homework out in the open where laptop usage can be monitored to minimise harm and maximise cyber safety.
