Attendance
Gilgai Plains Primary School is dedicated to making school a safe and enjoyable place for our students. Attendance patterns are established early in a child's life and can follow them through into their adult years.
Why Being on Time Matters
When students arrive on time, they start the day calmly and are ready to learn. There is a lot of intentional planning around the timing and set up of the school day. The first part of the school day is important for setting routines and is the optimal time of learning. Fundamental Literacy skills are always scheduled in the morning, and arriving late means missing key learning opportunities. Arriving late can create a level of distress for students when they interrupt a lesson that has already begun, which can then affect their ability to focus on the lesson, once they arrive.
Why Attendance is Important
Attending school every day helps children build knowledge, skills, and friendships. It helps them feel connected to their classmates, teachers and the community. Missing school means that they miss out on learning and creates gaps which can have them significantly fall behind their peers. When students miss school it not only impacts their academic learning it can have a large impact on their social connections.
Coming to school is setting your child up for success, in all areas of their life.
