The Art Academy had the pleasure of being able to attend Yayoi Kusama's exhibition at the NGV. Yayoi Kusama is known for her recurring polka dots, which symbolise the infinite, the interconnectedness of the universe, and her personal experiences with hallucinations and the search for self-obliteration.
The exhibition was separated into two parts; one in which displayed her childhood and growing career. Her first section mainly consisted of paintings, 3D pieces, symbolic pieces of clothing and a series of photographs.
The second part, being the largest of the two, held her interactive, immersive installations, such as her well known Infinity Mirror room.
Overall, the students in Art Academy had a wonderful time and are extremely grateful for this opportunity to be able to view the works of such a renowned artist.
