Young Archie Portrait Show

Mrs Katie Neidhart

Last term in Art We were lucky enough to be invited to enter into the Young Archie Portrait show at The Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery. Students were asked to create a portrait of someone significant to them. They were asked to bring in a photo to use as a stimulus and base their work on this. All Primary schools on the Mornington Peninsula could enter two student works in the following two age brackets: Junior ages 5-8 and Senior ages 9-12.

Everyone created an amazing portrait of their significant person, and some chose to do their pet. As you could imagine it was a very hard choice for me so I decided to handball and leave it up to the other teachers. I laid the artworks out with no student names visible and had the teachers vote on their top two purely based on their artwork. Votes were then tallied up and the top two from each age category were determined.

From the Junior category we Congratulate Logan and Paxton for being chosen. And from the seniors we congratulate Steele and Archer.

These works were then sent to the Gallery and judged by a panel of guest judges. We were lucky to have one of our students selected as a finalist.  He attended the Opening night at the Gallery last night where he proudly saw his work displayed. Paxton chose his Papa as his significant person who also attended the night. Congratulations Paxton.
