Over the last two weeks our students have commenced working on new projects:

Tying in with their Term topic, fairy tales, Foundation students have started a construction project making a house from one of their favourite fairy tales. Students are using boxes, craft materials, adhesives and their imagination to create their house. They have enthusiastically began making castles, wooden/brick little pig houses and Rapunzel towers.

Students in Grades 1 and 2 have practiced their modeling skills with Play dough before they worked with clay to make a clay bird. Students learned how to attach clay parts together by scoring and using slip. The clay birds will have to be fired in the kiln before the students will paint them.

Grade 3 and 4 students are learning about weaving. They made a cardboard loom, learned how to put on the warp and started weaving with wool. Students are very much enjoying the weaving process, finding it very relaxing but did find out they have to concentrate on their work to avoid making mistakes.

Students in Grades 5 and 6 are working on a textile project. They designed their own 'ugly doll' (inspired by the movie) and will be exploring simple sewing techniques to make it. Students will cut their shapes out of felt and will use a slip stitch and a running stitch to sew their doll.
