Benefits of Extended PCG

Along with engaging in our Protective Behaviours Program, House and PCG events, NAIDOC Week and RUOK? Day activities, Extended PCG on Wednesdays throughout the Term Three have brought opportunities for our Year 7 and 8 students to participate in a range of presentations to assist them with maintaining their own wellbeing.

Year 7 students have engaged in two presentations from Anglicare - the first on wellbeing and confidence, the second on connection, support and belonging, as well as a performance from Youth Choices about bullying and cyberbullying.

Our Year 8 students have also participated in two presentations - Zero to Hero about resilience and the second titled Vaping: Clearing the Air.  I hope the students have learnt much from these presentations and potentially discussed the messages presented at home around the dinner table.

I encourage all students to enjoy the holiday break, take time to rest and recover from a busy term and return to school on Tuesday, October 10 dressed immaculately in their summer uniform, prepared to begin Term Four.

Thank you to our parents for your ongoing support this term, it is much appreciated and valued.

Looking back and focussing ahead

It is now time to reflect on the hard work, dedication and achievements of our wonderful students during Term Three. It has been a time of growth, both academically and personally, and as Head of Year 9 & 10, I want to congratulate each and every one of you for your outstanding efforts. CONGRATS!

With the arrival of Term Four just around the corner, we say goodbye to our winter uniforms and welcome back our summer attire. I ask all families to remember to adhere to the dress code guidelines to ensure a neat and uniform appearance from the very start of next term.

Year 10 Exams: Term Four brings an important milestone. We believe in your abilities and know that you will excel in these assessments. Stay focused, stay confident and give it your all. Try to use a part of these holidays to prepare yourselves for these.

Year 9 Camp: The much-anticipated Year 9 camp will take place in Term Four will provide students with the opportunity for personal growth, teamwork and adventure. It will also, I am sure, bring much joy.

I also want to remind everyone to prioritise safety during the upcoming holidays. Whether you are traveling or staying local, please be safe and make responsible choices.

Your positive wellbeing matters to us here at St George’s and I look forward to seeing you in good health and high spirits ready for Term Four. Enjoy your break.

Year 11 & 12

The final chapter

As we say farewell to yet another bustling term, it is astonishing to witness the rapid pace at which the school year is advancing. For our Year 12 students, this term signifies the second-to-last chapter of their voyage through secondary school. Throughout this journey, they have encountered numerous trials and gained priceless insights. I hope they can reflect with much happiness on all that they have achieved as St George’s students.

To our Year 12 ATAR students, who stand on the brink of their final exams, we wholeheartedly convey our best wishes for their ongoing success. Your unwavering commitment and diligence to your studies have carried you to this pivotal juncture and we firmly believe that you will excel in your upcoming examinations. I wish you all the very best as you head in to the final preparations for your WACE Examinations.

Meanwhile, our Year 12 APEx students are diligently completing their final tasks, a testament to their commitment to ongoing excellence.

As Year 11 students, you are now stepping into the role of the most senior students of our school. Embrace this responsibility with pride, and let it inspire you to achieve greatness. I am excited to see our 2024 Leaders appointed at our Handover Assembly in Week Two, Term Four. Our goal is always to go out on a high, supporting each other and celebrating our collective accomplishments.

I wish everyone of our students a successful and fulfilling journey ahead as well as a happy holiday.
