Class 4 News

Hello Families!

We are in the home stretch of the school year.  The students have returned from their school holidays settled and ready for the challenges of Term 4!  

We are beginning this term with a mini–Main Lesson on vertical multiplication and division, skills that are a culmination of many other skills we have focused on throughout the school year.  It involves rounding and estimating, multiplication facts, multiplying and dividing by multiples of 10, regrouping with addition and subtraction, value of each digit, and number sense.  In Year 4, we work with whole numbers through the ten thousands when multiplying and dividing.  We have been enjoying seeing different algorithms solve the same problems with the same answer - the magic of numbers!  

Term 3 was massive, with the projects and the play.  Thank you for the support from home with the projects.  Students did a stunning job on their final products, and it was a delight to see the pride in their hard work.  The play was also quite fun.  It is nice to see their personalities shine and develop through portrayal of a character.  Finishing the term off with a fraction pizza party was the best way to end the term!

I look forward to seeing you next week at our Term 3 parent meeting, Wednesday, 22 October @ 5:30 in the classroom.  Please join the school community at 5 for a bbq.
