Wellbeing @ ENPS

Respectful Relationships

The Respectful Relationships program helps students develop respect, resilience, and confidence by promoting positive attitudes and behaviours. It is delivered in Foundation, Year One, Year Three, and Year Five, with follow-up lessons in Years Two, Four, and Six. The program covers eight areas of Social and Emotional Learning:

  • Emotional Literacy

  • Personal and Cultural Strengths

  • Positive Coping

  • Problem-Solving

  • Stress Management

  • Help-Seeking

  • Gender Norms and Stereotypes

  • Positive Gender Relationships

This term, as communicated with relevant year levels, we are exploring two important topics from the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program: Topic Seven - Gender and Identity and Topic Eight - Positive Gender Relationships. These lessons support students to build healthy relationships, understand and celebrate differences, and are designed to be age-appropriate and research-based. We will continue this focus in Term Four. Families are welcome to view lesson material, which is available to download here.

The Resilience Project

The Resilience Project promotes positive mental health and wellbeing by teaching the principles of Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness (GEM), and Emotional Literacy. This program is integrated into our curriculum and is taught in Years Two and Four, giving students the opportunity to build key emotional skills at different stages of their education.

This term, our Year Two students explored important social-emotional skills. They reflected on gratitude, learned calming techniques such as mindful breathing, yoga, and meditation, and practiced showing cooperation and empathy, especially in the playground. Our Year Four students focused on emotional literacy. They learned how to use the catastrophe scale to understand the severity of problems and the emotions linked to them, as well as the importance of seeing situations from other people’s perspectives.

Embrace Kids

This term, our Year Six students participated in the Embrace Kids classroom program, which promotes positive body image, inclusivity, and kindness. Across the week, students completed five lessons, beginning with the Embrace Kids film and then exploring key themes such as:

  • Celebrating diversity in appearance, ability, cultural background, and gender expression

  • Appreciating what our bodies can do, not just how they look

  • Practising kindness toward ourselves and others

  • Recognising the impact of real role models

Our Year Six students enjoyed and valued this meaningful learning experience. We encourage families to explore the Embrace Kids website to learn more about supporting positive body image in young people.

R U OK? Day

On Thursday 11th September, ENPS recognised R U OK? Day. This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn and talk about mental health and wellbeing, focusing on how we can support one another and build respectful relationships.

With Mental Health Month coming up in October, we are also excited to hear from students about what wellbeing means to them and how we can promote it across our school. Their ideas and perspectives matter, and R U OK? Day provided the perfect platform to begin these important conversations. Students were invited to share their thoughts by answering:

  • What makes you feel happy and safe at school?

  • How can we promote mental health and wellbeing at ENPS?

  • What could we do to improve the wellbeing of students at ENPS?

Big thank you to Maddison K (3AC) and Madison H (3SM) for helping facilitate our R U OK? Day at ENPS!
