Year Three

CERES Community Environmental Park Excursion

As part of our Unit of Inquiry Sharing the Planet and our central idea Small decisions have a big impact on the environment, Year Three students visited CERES Community Environmental Park.

During the excursion, students engaged in a range of hands-on activities, including paper making, learning about the importance of composting and natural processes, and walking along Merri Creek to help collect litter while discovering the role of the Litter Trap. Another highlight of the excursion was the opportunity to explore and play on the recycled playground.

The CERES educators focused on the 6R’s – Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rot, inspiring students to consider how their everyday choices can make a positive difference to our planet. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to connect their classroom learning to real-world actions and see how small changes can have a lasting impact on the environment.

A special thank you to the parents who came along to help supervise and support the day. The teachers were also very proud of how respectfully all students behaved, both on the bus and at the park. Together, we can all take small steps that add up to a big difference for our environment.
