Finally after a postponement due to poor weather from a week earlier the day arrived for our 3-6 Primary Athletics Day at the newly renovated Knox Athletics Track. Our 3-6 students came wearing their House Colours and ready for a great day of track and field events.
Typically of a classic early day in Spring, the weather had a little bit of everything, even a short burst of hail which appeared from nowhere. The students were fantastic coming on and off the track a couple of times but pushed through completing everything on the fixture.
Our primary students had been practising hard this term in PE classes, with focused lessons in circular relay, discus, shot put, high, triple and long jump. This certainly helped build both confidence and set us up for a successful carnival. It also made for a sensationally day of close competition.
With every student who competed scoring points for their House it led to a very close count with Yarra piping Wattle in the final events of the day and they will add their house name on to the perpetual shield that will be on display in our upper primary school building.
A huge congratulations to all our students for their amazing resilience battling the tricky conditions and for their efforts at all the events.
On Friday the students who have made the CSEN team will represent BHCS at the Lakeside Stadium in their selected events.
A special thanks to all our Parent Helpers, Mr. Kelly and the Year 9 students, Michaela in the coffee van and all the teachers that helped ensure the smooth running of the program and to all the parents that came to support the students.

On Monday, the 8th of September, we sent a team of students to compete in the CSEN Secondary Athletics Championships. Students were selected for the team based on their results from the House Athletics carnival. We were so proud to see our students rise to the occasion, with so many stepping into extra events, older age groups and even events they weren’t that keen on doing - every point counts! There were some outstanding results, with lots of medals won by our students throughout the day. Well done to everyone who was involved - we really appreciate the effort put in by each and every one of you.
