YEAR 9 PROGRAM - COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER PLACEMENT
By Ben White (Year 9 Co-ordinator)
During term 3, Year 9 students embraced the opportunity to serve in a range of local community volunteer placements as a part of the year 9 program. With enthusiasm, humility, and a willingness to step in wherever needed, our students demonstrated exceptional character and a genuine heart for giving.
The program’s purpose is to grow a generous spirit—encouraging our students to actively look for ways to help others and give of their time and efforts. Placements included assisting at a local church, completing a backyard blitz, completing yard work and landscaping at Belgrave Convention Centre, brightening days at an elderly care facility, joining in at a Mainly Music group, and lending a hand in the BHCS Kinder, Primary School, and Discovery Centre.
This initiative has not only served our community but has also enriched the lives of our students, helping them develop lifelong values of service, compassion, and teamwork. What a fantastic example of learning beyond the classroom!
A TOE-TAPPING NIGHT AT THE PULSE FAMILY BUSH DANCE
By Amanda Wight (Pulse Co-ordinator)
Last Saturday, Pulse hosted a Bush Dance, bringing our community together for a night of music, laughter and lively dancing. Families and friends joined in learning – and then confidently performing – the fun dances, all led by the energetic Paddy’s Wombat Bush Band.
The evening was filled with more than just dancing: a sausage sizzle, canteen treats, face painting, a photo booth, and door prizes made it a true community celebration. It was wonderful to see so many BHCS families toe-tapping, spinning, and do-si-doing their way through the night.
Thank you to everyone who gave their time and talents to plan, coordinate, decorate, and bring every detail together. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who played a part in making the Bush Dance such a great night!
