WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING! (1 of 2)

A DELICIOUS DAY AT THE YARRA VALLEY CHOCOLATERIE!
By Tracy Williams (Year 3 Teacher)
Our Year 3 students recently embarked on a wondrous journey, much like Charlie Bucket himself, to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery! This special excursion brought the magical world of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" to life, allowing our students to experience their own "golden ticket" moment.
As we entered the Chocolaterie, the children's eyes widened with delight as they explored the vast array of sweet treats, getting to taste many different chocolates, discovering their favourites like true connoisseurs.
One of the highlights was the chance to create their very own giant chocolate lollipop, decorating it with a colourful assortment of lollies – a truly hands-on experience that would make even the Oompa Loompas proud! Just like Augustus Gloop couldn't resist the chocolate river, our students couldn't resist choosing a delicious ice cream flavour to enjoy, a perfect cool treat.
After their sweet and chocolatey adventures, the children had their lunch and a well-deserved play at a nearby park, burning off some of that sugar. It was a day filled with sweetness, creativity, and a little bit of magic, making "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" even more memorable.
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
By Ruth Brennan & Anita Little (Discovery Team)
The stage was set and anticipation hung in the air for a showdown of a different kind at Yarra Valley Grammar - the inaugural Battle of the Books. After devouring eight selected books and graphic novels, the team put their knowledge to the ultimate test. They tackled rounds of visual quizzes, rapid-fire questions, and a Kahoot! challenge, demonstrating impressive teamwork and a genuine passion for reading. The day was filled with challenge and fun and they earned a very respectable seventh-place finish. We couldn't be prouder of Ayden D, Georgia S, Hannah G, & Audrey S for their hard work and positivity.
