Principal's Report

Newsletter Report – Term 3, Week 8

Thank you to our community for the many kind messages following my appointment as Principal of LPPS. Having worked here in a range of roles—from classroom teacher to Literacy Specialist to Assistant Principal—I feel privileged to now lead the school I chose for my own children.

This year began with challenges, but together we kept our focus on learning and wellbeing. Our academic results are outstanding, our wellbeing programs are recognised for their inclusiveness, and our school values of Respect, Resilience, and Citizenship continue to shine through in our students.

I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and excited for what’s ahead.

School Values – Respect, Resilience, and Citizenship

Our students continue to show our school values through the little everyday actions that make a big difference:

Putting rubbish in the bin, keeping play areas clean, and classrooms tidy

Listening respectfully to teachers, including relief teachers

Being kind to others, avoiding rumours, and reporting concerns

Wearing hats and the correct uniform

Returning to class promptly at the bell, lining up quietly, and entering ready to learn

Thank you for your ongoing support in reinforcing these important habits at home.

Thank you

A big thank you to the PFC for all of their hard work in organising the Father’s Day stall for our classes.

Last week was Education Support Aide Appreciation Week. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a strong team of experienced and dedicated ES aides. They work tirelessly to stay positive, support students who need extra help, and ensure our school remains inclusive. Their contribution is invaluable.

Our gratitude also goes to our amazing front office staff. From first aid to finance, event organisation, parent support, and staff assistance—the list truly goes on. They are optimistic, helpful, and always ready to guide and support our community.

Finally, thank you to our Facilities team. You may have noticed the huge changes in our gardens as part of our redevelopment project along the front of the school. With the help of a landscaper, we are creating a fresh new look featuring “hero” plants. Most of the new ramps are now finished (with a few railings still to come), and we are investigating the addition of a sliding door for the front office. Repairs to the middle school toilets are scheduled, and further rejuvenation work will take place in the middle school area over the holidays.

Exciting Events which have happened:

*Body Education Year 5

*Year 3 Moonlit Sanctuary

*District Athletics

*Year 1 Full Steam Ahead incursion

*Dolly’s Dream-anti bullying workshops

*Year 2 Mini Boss incursion

Thank You for Your Support

We know this winter term has been filled with sickness—our students and staff have certainly felt it. Teaching is one of those professions where you can’t escape the bugs, and absences are sometimes unavoidable.

Wherever possible, we employ one of our local relief teachers to cover classes and maintain consistency. When this isn’t possible, we access agency staff. However, due to the current chronic teacher shortage, there are occasions when we have no choice but to split classes. While not ideal, this can bring positives—students get the chance to mix with others from their year level, helping them build connections for 2026 when new classes will be formed.

Curriculum delivery remains consistent in all cases, as staff access prepared teaching and learning plans via our online system.

Thank you again for your understanding and for continuing to encourage resilience with your children—it makes a real difference.

WAIT ZONE – End of Day

To keep our students safe at dismissal time, we ask that they wait inside the school fence at the end of the day. This area is along Northgateway, where students can sit near the sandpit with a clear view of the road and Jackson Drive.

We would appreciate your support in reminding your child of this routine. Together, we can ensure all students are safe at pick-up time.

Looking ahead:

Last day of term is Friday 19/9/25.

We will have our Footy/Sport Parade for classes in session 1.

Dismissal will be 230pm

There will be no assembly due to the Footy Parade.

Please have a safe break and quality time with your family.

Kind regards, Deb Haddow, Principal

We know life is busy, but there’s real power in community. We’re calling on our local legends to help with a few small projects — things we’d rather not outsource if we can keep it in the neighbourhood!

We’re currently looking for:

A licensed gas plumber for compliance checks

Carpenters for a fencing project

An air conditioning mechanic (for holiday servicing)

A landscaper for garden planning

Green thumbs for light weeding and pruning

Even an hour of your time makes a big difference. If you’re able to help or want more info, please contact the front office — Bluey, our Facilities Manager, will be in touch.

Let’s keep building a strong, connected community — together!
