Principal's Message

Term 3, Week 9

Hi Everyone,

I hope you had a truly wonderful day yesterday Dads!  Last Thursday, with the help of lots of wonderful staff, I cooked a sausage sizzle for any Dads and their families that were around at pick-up time, it was great that so many could join us at short notice!  Our Fabulous P&C is also going to have a belated Father’s Day event and are looking to host a movie night here at school before the term ends  -  watch this space!  Our world is a better place because of all of the wonderful fathers out there!

Thank you for taking the time to come into our school and engage with our wonderful teachers for parent/teacher progress meetings.  This takes a lot of preparation and time from our teaching staff and I am very grateful for their commitment.  It is wonderful to hear that some children are coming in to these meetings too and are showing their parents what they have been learning and what they need to work on next!  These are where the great partnerships between home and school really come to fruition.

The results are in and our Maths Teams came 1st, 2nd and 4th in the Brisbane Maths Tournament  -   that is astounding!!!!  CONGRATULATIONS to these kids and their teachers and thank you for all of your efforts to make it happen Mr Chow!  It augurs very well for APSMO which is coming up this week too!

Equally as impressive were our Chess Teams that played up in the next level and did so very well  -  how  AMAZING!!  Well done kids and Mr Shepherd and Mr Malcolm!

The Year 3 Street Science incursion looked like a lot of wonderful, fun learning; the children were so into it!  Thank you so much to our Year 3 Teaching Team for all of the organisation that went into making this great learning enhancement happen.

The time has almost arrived for our Japan Study Tour to go on their trip!  This Friday, the 12th September, at our whole school STAR assembly they will not only be performing for us but also for the Japanese Consular General who is our special guest.  What an amazing opportunity this is for this group of students, all made possible by their parents and our wonderful staff here at Ironside State School.

Have a wonderful week.

Yours in Education,

Angie Kelly

Principal

PS One of our parents has let me know that after school hours, children in Ironside State School uniforms are riding on bikes with no helmets.  This is seriously dangerous behaviour that is unnecessary, please remind your children to wear a helmet.  We love them too much to see them have a terrible injury or worse.
