Scotsburn Father’s Day Breakfast
Thank you everyone for attending our very special Scotsburn Fathers’ Day Breakfast. It was such a nice morning, with our students taking charge and serving their dads and special people in their lives some breakfast and a warm drink.
We have been doing this for a few years now and it is sure to be an event that we will continue into the future. We hope all the fathers and special people in our students’ lives had a great day on Sunday and we want you to know you are so very much appreciated.

Scotsburn Swimming
- Next Week
Our Scotsburn swimming program begins next week. As was the routine last year, 45 minute swimming lessons will take place for 5 days, Monday to Friday at Federation University. We will catch a bus to the pool after recess and be back at Scotsburn for lunch.
Drop off and pick up each day will be as normal at Scotsburn. Bathers, a towel, goggles, and a plastic bag for wet clothes will be needed each day next week.
Please wear bathers underneath clothes when you arrive at school to make the change room process quicker on entry. Students are also encouraged to wear crocs or thongs to and from the pool.
If you are thinking of coming along to watch you are welcome to. If parents would like to assist, please let your child’s teacher know. We require a current WWCC and you must sign a ‘Code of Conduct’ for all adults entering the change room prior to the day at the school office. Please note, no photos can be taken in the pool area.
Your child should have brought home with them a swimming form for you to fill out. This will help the instructors place your child in the appropriate group. Please return this form as soon as you can, so that we can send them off to the university. Should you need a new form, please come and see Jarrod.
Teacher Aide Appreciation Week
Last week was Teacher Aide Appreciation Week. At Scotsburn, we are so lucky and grateful to have such amazing people come and help us at the campus, week in week out.
To Raquel, Paige, Emily, Taneale and Chelsea, thank you so much. We definitely couldn’t do what we do without you. We hope you enjoyed your cards and messages from all the students last week!
Scotsburn Parent Opinion Survey
A final reminder to all families to complete this year’s parent opinion survey. The survey, offered by the Department of Education, is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement.
Your opinions as Scotsburn parents are so important to us and we value every bit of feedback that we can receive. Our parent community is such a valued and important aspect of the Scotsburn campus and we truly do cherish our partnership. Using this valued feedback on one way that as a campus we can continue to develop and improve, ensuring that we are providing the best possible education experience for each and every one of our students.
The survey should only take approximately 20 minutes and we would appreciate it so much if we could get all families to complete. The survey will be open Friday 19 September 2025.
To complete the survey, simply:
Click on the link below, or copy and paste the text into your browser. This link will take you directly to the survey.

The pin code was sent out on Compass last week.
If you are having any trouble completing the survey, please see Jarrod for assistance. Thanks in advance everyone!
Grade 6 Mount Clear College Cultural Day
- this Friday 12th September
This Friday we have been provided with an amazing opportunity for our Grade 6 students heading off to Mount Clear College next year, to be involved in a Cultural Day session at the College. This will be a wonderful opportunity to provide these students with some extra transition, supporting their move into secondary school next year.
The event is on Compass for those students and families involved, with no cost. Students will be bused too and from Mount clear between 11:30am - 1:30pm. Normal Scotsburn drop off and pick up arrangements.
Good luck Mrs Morgan and Oisin!
Good luck to Mrs Morgan and Oisin who have the State School Spectacular performances this weekend. On Thursday and Friday, they have two days of full dress rehearsals, followed by two massive shows on Saturday. If you have never experienced the State School Spectacular, it sure is a huge event and will blow you away!
Good luck!!!
Celebration of Learning
- Next Wednesday 17th September
Next Wednesday, September 17th, we will be holding our Scotsburn Celebration of Learning evening from 5-7pm.
This event at Scotsburn will be very similar to the Buninyong campus, providing a wonderful opportunity for you to come along and get an insight into what your child/ren are learning at school.
All classroom spaces as well as specialist areas will be open for students to lead their families through and share their learning.
We will have the bbq cooking to enjoy a few sausages whilst families explore the learning spaces. We can’t wait to see all the families for the evening! Don’t forget to bring some coins for a sausage or two!
Guess the Jelly Beans Winner!
Well done Albus who won the Buninyong Guess the Jelly Beans in the Jar competition! The competition was to raise funds for the Type 1 Foundation, which provides support, awareness and connection for those living with type 1 diabetes.
Albus guessed 456 jelly beans, with the actual number being 452 – only four off!
SC1 Learning Snapshot
Another busy week for the students in SC1. In Literacy, the children have been creating narrative stories. These will be ready to share with you on Celebration of Learning night. It has been wonderful to see their connection to the text we have been sharing in the classroom and some of the well known authors of Julia Donaldson and Nick Bland.
In Maths, we have been learning about time. Sequencing events, using a calendar, looking at the features of analogue clocks and the connection between digital clocks. Above is a picture of Harry. He was very proud of his independent counting and wanted to feature in this week’s newsletter!
Our Inquiry unit “Then and Now” has continued to be of great interest to the children and this week they will be writing a letter based on life on the Goldfields in Ballarat to their families.
Planning day for Term 4 for Ms Connor is next Monday. Which means SC1 will have a Specialist day on Monday, as well as their first day of swimming. Please pack sports shoes and see above for swimming information.
SC2 Learning Snapshot
Well there certainly is a lot happening to round off the term in SC2. Students have been working hard to put the finishing touches on quite a few pieces of work, ready for our Celebration of Learning next Wednesday evening. Our “Shark Tank” style inventions for our work on Ancient Rome and Greece are coming together, including product/invention creation, budgeting, creating a persuasive pitch and advertisement.
In writing, students have been finalising their published Ancient Greece realistic narrative. The focus that the students have put into including emotion and feeling in their stories has been incredible.
During reading sessions, we have added dedicated fluency reading time into our daily schedule. This provides students with the opportunity to read out loud to a partner, focussing on all aspects of reading fluency. This week has been all about reading with expression as well as phrasing when we read. Our partners and doing an amazing job giving purposeful feedback.
Next week we have lots on with swimming as well as planning week for staff and the Celebration of Learning on Wednesday. Planning Day for myself to attend with the Buninyong 5/6 staff will also be on Wednesday, with SC2 students having a specialist day with Mrs Morgan.
2026 Scotsburn Enrolments

For those considering enrolment at our beautiful campus, the video below is a great snapshot of what we have to offer:
Scotsburn- Virtual Tour (youtube.com)
Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
