Grade 5

Reading
This week in Reading, students explored the famous poem “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” by William Wordsworth. Together, we looked at how the poet used language to describe the beauty of daffodils in nature. Students practiced breaking down each stanza to find meaning and imagery. They also discussed how the poem made them feel and why it is still enjoyed today.
Writing
In Writing, students have been creating their own poems using alliteration and personification. They learned how alliteration gives writing a fun, rhythmic sound, while personification helps bring objects to life. Students enjoyed sharing their poems and adding vivid detail to make their writing stand out. Many were excited to perform their work aloud to the class.
Mathematics
In Maths, we focused on measurement and converting units. Students practiced working with grams, litres, and metres in real-world problems. They explored how to change from larger units to smaller units and back again. Activities included measuring items around the classroom and solving word problems.
It has been a fantastic Term 3, filled with learning, creativity, and teamwork. Students are looking forward to a well-earned break before the start of Term 4.
