Year 9 and 10

Here are some updates regarding activities and events students have been participating in during the second half of term 3:

Year 9

Year 9 have had a busy term on their Naarm excursions, with a wide range of new experiences: seeing the city from a unique perspective at Melbourne Skydeck, watching a lightning show at Scienceworks, and going on Safari at Werribee Zoo after learning about food webs. The Shrine of Remembrance, providing a sobering experience where students were able to look and handle some genuine artifacts from history, and heard about some of the human stories of loss from Gallipoli. On the same day, we also visited the Australian Music Vault, and many students were surprised to see a Sunbury exhibition about the Sunbury Music Festival.

To conclude the term, students will be participating in the Amazing Race around the city. We hope this can be an exciting finish to the term, and we hope students have enjoyed the experiences they have had with the NEP program this term.

Year 10

The focus this term for Year 10’s was on future careers and pathways, with students making the decision between VCE and VCE VM. Many of our students utilised available resources such as: experienced teachers, the careers team, siblings and parents when deciding on the pathway which best suits them. Year 10 is an incredibly important year to support students to be future focused. It has been wonderful to see so many students making informed choices about potential future pathways and plans. With the final two years of schooling not too far away now, we encourage Year 10s to continue their hard work and dedication to their studies, in order to set themselves up for success in Year 11.

Students who applied for a VCE VM pathway, will shortly receive a letter confirming the outcome of their application and interview. Those offered a place to study VCE VM at Sunbury College in 2026, should now be working towards finalising their placement for structured workplace learning.

Looking forward to Term 4, Year 10's will begin exam revision in week 6, followed by Semester 2 exams, and then a celebration of the year with their Formal on Friday the 21st of November, before two weeks of Headstart (weeks 8 & 9).

The Middle Years team wishes all families a safe and enjoyable school holidays. We look forward to seeing students return in term 4!
