R U OK? Day

On Thursday 11th of September, students at Burwood East Primary School, recognised R U OK day, by wearing bright colours to spread the message of positivity.
R U OK? This day is all about reminding us to check in with each other.
By asking the simple question, “Are you OK?”, we can make a big difference for friends, family or classmates who might be having a tough time. Students experienced age-appropriate activities and chats about kindness, empathy, and looking after one another. It’s always been a great way for our students to see how a small question can mean a lot and help.
Here is what our students have to say.
Students in 1A
Elijah - Someone can say they’re okay but really on the inside they feel not okay. You can help them by asking R U ok?
Mason- If someone is not okay, you can ask them and then if they are saying ‘Leave me alone’, it is still important to check in on them
Selina - You can tell if someone is not okay by their face and expression. I like to help if they are not okay.
