REMEMBRANCE DAY
REMEMBRANCE DAY 2024
Today two of our school captains, Kiera Witton and Riley McIntosh, attended the Remembrance Day Service at the Korumburra Cenotaph. The two students took great pride in laying the wreath on behalf of the school, with Riley commenting that he appreciated being there given his Great Grandfather’s involvement in the defence forces.
The Remembrance Day service was followed by the Legacy unveiling of the “Lone Pine Memorial Stone”. Perry Neil, Korumburra Legatee, provided the observers with detail about how this Lone Pine came to arrive in our town. A wide range of community involvement from local families was evident here for the unveiling, including the Conn, Fowles, Maguire, Tilley and Fliedes families. Our students were privileged to witness this special commemorative event with Helen Maguire, Avis Tilley and Mary Fliedes, some of our eldest Legacy widows.
We will remember them.
