All Hands on Deck
During Semester 2, one of the Hands on Learning projects has been to prepare a site at Trawalla Primary School and build a Green House. To do this the crew needed to dismantle an existing chook shed and fence, then level and rock the base.
After the mid-semester break, we came back ready to construct the base that would hold down the frame. This took some careful measuring and communication. Once we were satisfied we moved onto the frame. This was a challenging day, as the whole process was new and there were a lot of instructions. It took a great deal of trial and error to make sure it was done correctly. This was a consistent theme over the following weeks, with frustrations followed by successes.
Once the frame started to take shape, morale improved immensely. Each day we built on what we had learned the week before, watching as it slowly all came together. Although it was a challenging project that tested the patience of everyone, including Mr. Wright, it was worth enduring the setbacks, as the reward of seeing what we had achieved as a group made it all worthwhile. It is especially satisfying knowing that the Trawalla Primary School community will be able to use our creation for years to come.
