PE News

Bike Ed

This term, Grade 3 students have been participating in a Bike Ed program on a Friday as part of their sport session. Both teachers and students have really enjoyed taking part in the sessions and gaining more knowledge and confidence on their bike. Students will be taken on a celebration ride outside of the school towards the end of term. There will be a compass post to consent to prior to this event. Bikes, helmets and safety vests will be provided for all students however if they wish to bring their own bike & helmet, as most students have been each week, they are welcome to do so.

Library

Scholastic Book Club – Thank you to everybody who placed orders for Scholastic Book Club. The order is on its way to us and, all things going well, should be here for distribution next week. All books will be delivered to student’s classrooms other than those marked ‘gift’ which will go to the office and you will be contacted directly to collect these orders.

Borrowing – We will commence our stocktake of library books in December and have two more weeks of borrowing available for students. We would love to have all library books returned to the library by the end of this month.

Thanks

Sue and Jess in the Library

Sick Bay

Asthma

If your child is coming to sick bay regularly throughout the week for Ventolin, we strongly encourage you to chat with your GP about getting a 'preventer' for your child.  The Asthma Org suggests that most adults and some kids with asthma should be prescribed a preventer. Ask your doctor about preventers if you don’t have one. Some clear signs you need one are if you have:

  • experienced asthma symptoms at least once per week
  • symptoms that cause regular trouble with activities
  • woken at night due to asthma symptoms once or more during the past month
  • had a flare-up requiring an urgent visit to a GP or emergency department
  • needed a course oforal corticosteroids.

Allergies & Antihistamines

With Spring in full swing, we are seeing an increase in students presenting with allergy symptoms.  If your child suffers from hayfever or grass allergies, can you please ensure they are given a dose of an antihistamine before school, particularly on days they have sport.
