Art Show

On Monday evening our school hosted our 2024 Colour My World Art Show. Thank you to our Visual Arts teachers Claudia Michielin and Kristy Dixon for putting together such a great show! Thank you also to the staff and parent helpers who helped make the show a success.

Demonstrating Educational Excellence

A fortnight ago I was approached by Department of Education leaders to share our school's educational practices at the Department's Outer East Area Principal Forum. Specifically, the presentation was to share our school's Teaching and Learning Model, our focus on explicitly teaching content and how we transfer taught content into long term memory.

Last Thursday, Learning Specialist Jacinta MacKenzie and Year 1 teacher Allannah Watterson accompanied our Principal Team to Karralyka Centre and put on a brilliant presentation that was informative, engaging and inspiring. The presentation, to over 220 school leaders and Regional staff, has led to numerous collaborative partnerships and requests to observe our teaching in action which will only serve to strengthen our teaching practices.

Our teaching approaches are proven to improve student outcomes. This is demonstrated academically via NAPLAN, particularly in Year 3 with aspects of the Instructional Model having being implemented in the Junior School for a more sustained period, but also in student engagement, via the Department's Student Survey. As you can see below, Croydon Hills Primary ranked exceptionally high when measured against Similar, Network and other State schools.

Canteen Special Lunch Days

Last week our students were spoilt with our November Special Lunch Day - Oaks Day. These days are a great way to celebrate community and a vital component of the viability of the school operating a daily canteen. A huge thank you to Karen and her team for these days which are an enormous undertaking.  Next up is our Pizza & Juicy day on Wednesday 27 November - orders open on Flexischool now. 🍕

Our Sporting Success Continues!

The school sport calendar sees teams play seasonal sports throughout the year with Term 4 the host to many of the finals. 

• Last week our Year 5 and 6 students competed in the Netball Victoria Championships with two of our three teams winning their divisions. 
• This week our Girls Softball and Open Tennis teams competed in the SSV Regional Finals. This level of competition is high stakes with the winner progressing to the State Finals. Our teams put their best foot forward and showed tremendous spirit against some highly skilled teams.
• In the coming weeks we have our Year 3/4 Mixed, 5/6 Boys, and 5/6 Girls teams competing in the Hooptime State Finals - Good luck!
