Friends of Donvale

Amanda Gargett - President

What a joy it has been to serve the DCC community in my second year as President of Friends of Donvale (FOD). When people ask me what I do, I never feel that it is enough to say that I am the President of our school’s parent committee. That simple statement does not come close to explaining who we are and what we do.

We are not like the P & F found in most Primary schools. We don’t hold cake stalls and sell raffle tickets. We don’t operate as a separate entity to the school. Instead, we are a part of the school, entrusted with the role of building community amongst our students, their parents and staff. A generously allocated budget gives us the freedom to bless the community, for which we are deeply grateful.

As a team we are involved in over 45 events each year. If you break that down into to four terms in a year, roughly ten weeks in a term, we host, organise, or support something every week of the school year!

The school supports us in our ideas to bring families together, to bless the staff and students and to create an atmosphere and culture where people may easily forget that this is a big school. People feel connected and each year we are improving the way that we do this.

Our team is filled with diligent, organised and hard working parents supported by our wonderful volunteers and Class and Year Level reps, without whom we could not achieve all that we do. Over the next couple of years, we look forward to expanding our team and eventually passing on the baton to the next generation of servant-hearted parents. We have a wonderful rhythm going and we are focussed on protecting that so that FOD can continue in this format for many more years.

If you would like to hear more about FOD then you are cordially invited to our AGM next Monday evening - much more fun than it sounds because we start with coffee and dessert - here are the details on Schoolbox.

We are already looking forward to next year, Donvale's year of Jubilee, when we will celebrate  God’s grace to us as a school community over 50 years.

Welcome Fest is always the highlight of our year and as we celebrate our Jubilee, we are looking forward to sharing all the fun of the fair with you.

Save the date - Saturday 22 February 2025 from 4-8pm - you may book your tickets through Trybooking.
