Year 6: Parliament and Old Treasury Building Excursion

Parliament is in session! Year 6 had a fantastic time in the city visiting Parliament House and sitting where our State’s politicians sit in the Legislative Assembly! It was a fun role-play to demonstrate what parliament is like for the Year 6s as we learn about government and democracy.

We also got to tour the Old Treasury Building, seeing where the Governor of Victoria meets and where all the gold used to be kept. Some lucky students even got to ask Nicole Werner MP some questions and see previous Premier Daniel Andrews! What a day full of hands-on experiences!

Year 4: Scienceworks Excursion

As part of their Term 4 Inquiry topic, “What’s Your Problem” which focuses on solving various design and engineering problems, Year 4 students visited Scienceworks Museum.

They explored exhibits with curiosity and demonstrated their knowledge of the design process. The main highlight of the trip was a workshop where students collaborated to create working rollercoaster models, applying creativity, problem-solving and teamwork.

Year 1: Lilydale Lake Excursion

On Monday 11 November, the Year 1s caught the bus to Lilydale Lake as part of our Makerspace Materials unit where we have been designing and creating constructions and gaining an understanding of materials and their properties. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day and participated in fun activities.

These included dropping our mascot plasticine models in their parachutes off the highest ledge to see if they could glide to the ground, walking around the lake, playing on the playground, playing games and enjoying calm activities.

Exploring the playground allowed us to get a deeper understanding of the materials and their purposes we have learnt about during Inquiry. Mr Coffey and some parents cooked us delicious sausages for our lunch. It was a wonderful day of celebration.
