Public Speaking Program

Wow! What a fantastic week of Public Speaking by our Sacred Heart students! Congratulations to all our students for courageously presenting their speeches to an audience. The children spoke with confidence and clarity, and were well rehearsed. Well done to all year levels for the thorough research conducted to compose a range of Information Reports and supporting arguments for Persuasive pieces. Some of the topics presented were:

-Pets don't belong in the classroom (Year 3)

-No homework should be given (Year 2)

-Winter is the best season (Year 3)

-Homework should be banned on weekends (Year 3)

-Students shouldn't have to wear uniforms (Year 3)

-We need to rethink how manners are used in society today (Year 3)

-Camping (what is is and the benefits of camping-Year 3)

-The evolution of video games (Year 3)

Year 2 Donut Shop

As part of the Year 2 Writing unit on persuasive texts, the students have participated in a Flavour of the Month Competition. They needed to design a donut and write a persuasive piece to accompany it, explaining why their donut is the best donut for the shop. 

On Thursday afternoon, other year levels and families visited the Donut Shop and listened to the children persuade them that their donut should be voted as the best donut for the shop.
